"Pour water into a cup, it becomes the cup.
Pour water into a teapot,
it becomes the teapot.
Be water my friend."
-- Bruce Lee
Reflections #1
Since there are so many so similar what can one do beside number them? One could name them by place -- this would be "At Four Ponds". Or one could name them by Latitute and Longitude -- but without GPS I can only get close, and not close enough.
Reflections #2
This was actually the first image that I thought would look nice framed and hanging on the wall. The swirls seem to be caused by the trees and not the wind.
Reflections #2a
I number the images in order I find them -- I'll take many images in a day. Sometimes I find one or two that I like. This was the second image I liked that day.
Reflections #3
This image makes visible the "three dimensions" of these images: the bottom of the body of water, the surface of the water, and the sky that is reflected by the water.
Reflections #4
The branches seem to be reaching downward toward the water in this image. In actuality the branches are reaching upward to the sky.
Reflections #5
Appearing lonely, a pair of leaves churn about in the flow of a strong stream.
Reflections #6
When I took this image it looked nothing like this to my eye (one has to look at reflections with just one eye). Upon seeing this on my computer screen I knew I had something unique.
Reflections #6a
I went back the next day. It was a bit earlier in the day. But again it was a nice day.
Reflections #6b
If you haven't guessed by now, these last three images are reflections of a building. The Sandwich, MA, town hall.
Reflections #7
Next to the Sandwich town hall is a small reservoir created by a small mill. This is a home nearby...
Reflections #8
and this is part of the mill.
Reflections #9
Appearing turbulent and chaotic, this scene was actually quite tranquil that day. *sigh*
Reflections #10
A lovely combination of sky, cloud and tree, all brought together by the water, soothed by the wind. I want to stay here...
Reflections #11
The next three images have, to me, an eerie quality -- perhaps a bit due to the steep bank I was on and my almost sliding into the water...
Reflections #11a
Reflections #12
Reflections #13
Just a magnificent tree.
Reflections #14
More serene turbulence.
Reflections #15
I had crawled into the brush to reach the edge of a swamp to capture the canopy so clearly reflected.
Reflections #16
Another day at the mill. Another hour of the day. A beautiful mix of fall color.
Reflections #17
A pier in a harbor, and the water renders it much like a... water-color.
Reflections #18
Stream bed, water ripples, sky color, ahh...
Reflections #19
The "glow" lighting up the leaves on the bottom in this image is actually caused by the shadow of an over-hanging branch. Again demonstrating the wonderful "tricks" light plays on us.
Reflections #20
Again I am crawling in the underbrush. This time on an old abandoned cranberry bog. Again fall colors fallen on the ground.
Reflections #21
The ripples, ripples, ripples...
Reflections #22
The actual beauty of this old barn by the lake is not at all really captured in this image. This is also in Sandwich, MA.
